Sigiriya

Sigiriya is a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka. The ancient rock fortress and palace of Sigiriya, currently standing in ruin, still has magnificent opulence that is surrounded by beautiful gardens, reservoirs and other structures and attracts large influx of tourists visiting Sri Lanka. The Sigiriya rock also known as “Lion’s rock”.

Kandy

Kandy is the home to the Royal Palace and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, which houses the holy relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Kandy becomes highly crowded during the month of August due to the “Kandy Esala Perehera” which is hosted as an annual tradition of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. There are some other attractions such as the spice gardens, Pinnawela Elephant orphanage, Mahaweli River and the famous Peradeniya Gardens the largest botanical garden in the country.

Galle

Galle is well known for its cultural value and scenic beauty is located to the south of Colombo. Among the prominent places in the Galle town are the Galle Fort, the longest bridge of Sri Lanka, Galle cricket Stadium, and the “Gin Ganga” to name a few. The other places you must visit in Galle are Unawatuna Bay, which provides safe swimming and snorkeling well popular among the tourists.

Sinharaja Rain Forest Reserve

Walk through the green canopy while experiencing the magnificent wild life, breathtakingly beautiful streams, rivers, flora and fauna. A visit to Sri Lanka’s last undisturbed virgin rain forest will give you a lifetime experience. Located in South-west of Sri Lanka it covers an area of 23000 archers. This wet evergreen forest is home to thousand of endemic plants and animal species. It is found that the 75% of the plants are endemic in Sinharaja.

Knuckles Mountain Range

Knuckles Massif or the Knuckles Mountain Range is part of the Hill Country of Sri Lanka which is also above 3000 Ft or 915 Mts. The reason to call it Knuckles is because,there is a mountain with five peaks in itself, that looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist when seen from Kandy area.

Horton Plains

The most famous place of foreigners in Sri Lanka is Horton plains. Large Savannah plains, Waterfalls, High pure water, Forests and several natural and high eco diversity areas are available to visit at Horton Plains. In this case real meaning of this name is a Large Plain. This area is high more than 2300m above from sea level. A lot of rivers of Sri Lanka are started from Horton plains. Water of this place is very cold and very pure. Everyday we can see many foreigners come to this place and search animals.

Beaches

Negombo

Only 10 minutes drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport. Negombo offers some of the better beaches on the west coast of Sri Lanka, and draws tourists who stop over for a day on their way to or from the airport. Some quiet stretches of the beach are maintained by the tourist hotels, while others are always busy with fishermen and their equipment. Water-sports and diving are also popular among visitors, with a few well-preserved coral reefs and a 50-year-old shipwreck (Kudapaduwa) that serves as an artificial reef for many varieties of fish. "Mora Wala" and "Beach Park" of Negombo are also very interesting places among visitors

Ambalangoda

Ambalangoda beach is located at a distance of 86 km from Colombo. Ambalangoda has a beautiful white sandy beach. A large number of tourists visit the magnificent beachside of Ambalangoda every year to spend some time in the lap of nature

Arugambay

Arugam Bay is situated on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka's South-East coast. The Bay is located 220 km due East of Colombo. It is a popular surfing and tourist destination. Beach with its coral reef being home to an abundance of tropical fish affords delightful snorkeling opportunities.

Bentota

Bentota known for its broad golden beaches is situated in the southern coastal zone of Sri Lanka, a mere one & half hour drive from Colombo. If the idea of a vacation calls to mind an image of lazing around on the beach, indulging in mouth watering delicacies and returning home with sun kissed skin, Bentota Beach hotel should be given top priority.

Beruwala

One of the longest beaches in Sri Lanka located 60 km South of Colombo. The beaches good for swimming and there is always a breeze, making even a mid-day stroll very pleasant. Close by is also has a turtle hatchery and if you are lucky you may spot one of these slow and gentle creatures.

Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa is famous for its beautiful beach and corals and serves as a popular place to snorkel, surf and simply enjoy the sun. Having a reputation for a vibrant nightlife, the town attracts many party goers annually for the "Hikka Fest" which consists of week long parties along the beach. Hikkaduwa is also famous as a surfing destination Internationally. You can enjoy diving amongst famous ship wrecks

Mirissa

its breathtaking sandy beach pretty much transforms your dreams and visions of a tropical paradise into an everyday reality.

Located close to the Southern tip of the Island of Sri Lanka and only about 200 km from the Equator, this secluded crescent shaped beach is the perfect place to sit back, relax and forget about all the hussle and bussle of your other life that's a million miles away.

Unawatuna

Unawatuna beach, a crescent shaped shallow beach situated further south to the famous town of galle and its famous harbour and towering roomassala mountain. It is protected by a natural reef from the open sea and due to the semicircle shape of it forms a perfect natural swimming pool with aquamarine colour gentle waves crashing on the golden sandy beach.

Weligama

Located on Sri Lanka's picturesque South Coast, Weligama still offers the charm of an idyllic fishing village while providing excellent accommodation choices, catering for all budgets and needs. Enjoy walks along uncrowded beaches, still untouched by mass tourism and be fascinated by the famous stilt fishing men.

National Parks

Bundala

Bundala is internationally important wintering ground for migratory water birds in Sri Lanka. Bundala harbors 197 species of Birds, the highlight being the Greater Flamingo, which migrate in large flocks. spread an area of 6216 that consists of mainly of dry thorny scrublands, marshes and four brackish lagoons. The terrain is generally flat with sand dunes bordering the coastline.

Kitulgala

Just across the Kelani River is a primeval forest with lush tropical flora, home to about 54 rare species of birds. Though in a lesser density, most of the rain forest bird species that are found at the Sinharaja rainforest can be sighted at Kitulgala. Kitulgala is surrounded by wooded hills making way to the swift waters of River Kelani Ganga.

Minneriya

Located between Habarana and POLONNARUWA, the 8890 hectares of MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK is an ideal eco tourism location in Sri Lanka . The park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to Sri Lanka 's favourites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants.

Udawalawe

Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. Udawalawe National Park is located approximately 200 km south-east of Colombo city and is a major eco tourism destination in Sri Lanka .This is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see elephants

Wilpaththu

This park is situated thirty kilometres west of Anuradhapura near the Nochchiyagama area. It bordered to the north by Modaragam Aru (river) and to the south by the Kala Oya (river) and to the west by the Indian Ocean. The biggest draws in Wilpattu are Leopards and Sloth bears. Alongside these, it is possible to see Asian Elephants, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Wild Pig, Asiatic Buffalo and Mugger Crocodiles

Yala

National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. It is situated in the southeast region of the country, and lies in Southern Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 square kilometres (378 sq mi) and is located about 24km northeast of Tissamaharama and 300 km (190 mi) from Colombo.
