Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 – Arrival Transfer Airport / Negombo

Meet & greet services on arrival at the airport by our tour representative and transfer to Negombo. Do the brief city of Negombo. Overnight stay in Hotel in Negombo.

Day 02 – Negombo / Anuradhapura Sightseeing tour / Anuradhapura

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Anuradhapura. Check in at the hotel. In the Afternoon take the tour of this ancient city which was established in 500BC and served as an administrative centre of Sri Lanka and as the island's capital for 1400 years. The oldest historically documented tree on earth, The Sacred Bo Tree - is also located in this city. The perfection and scale of the dagobas or relic chambers like the Ruwanveliseya, Abhayagiri and the Jetavanarama, which are the largest in the world, are staggering, the latter vying with the largest pyramids at a height of 122m. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03 – Anuradhapura / Polounnaruwa Sightseeing tour / Sigiriya Rock / Sigiriya

After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa an ancient capital of Sri Lanka. Do a city tour of Polonnaruwa which was the 2nd capital city of Sri Lanka, built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD, and which is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya -where 4 splendid statues of the Buddha in 'Upright', 'Sedentary' and 'Recumbent' postures carved out of rock, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, king Parakramabahu's statue, and the Parakrama Samudraya lake built by King Parakramabahu the great. There are also monuments of famous places of worship such as, the Shiva temple, the Lankathilake, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former temple of the Tooth.

leave for Sigiriya in the north central province of Sri Lanka. Enroute visit Sigiriya and explore the 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashapa (477-495 AD). The 'Lion Rock' is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.

Day 04 – Sigiriya / Damulla Rock Temple / Matale / Kandy Temple & Cultural Show / Kandy

After breakfast Proceed from Sigiriya to Dambulla and visit the Dambulla rock temple which was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceilings, is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres.

Stop at a spice garden at Matale .Finally proceed to Kandy a city set in the hills around an artificial lake , is probably the most charming city in Sri Lanka and is a part of the cultural triangle and the last capital of Sinhala Kings before Sri Lanka was conquered by the British. At 17:30 hrs you will enjoy the Cultural show and later visit the Temple of the Tooth popularly known

Day 05 – Kandy / Garden / Pinnawela / CMB Sightseeing Tour / Colombo

Breakfast at hotel. Visit Peradeniya botanical gardens which was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and has been expanded by the British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

Thereafter proceed to Pinnawela and visit the Elephant Orphanage which is the home for about 60 elephants, out of which many are baby elephants, found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authorities. The best time to visit is during the feeding times, when one will have the opportunity of seeing the baby elephants being bottle-fed. Also you could accompany the elephants to a river close-by and see the elephants having their daily bath.

Arrive in Colombo and do a city tour of Colombo driving through the Commercial area of the 'Fort' so named, because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a fort at this point. Drive pass Pettah' – a noisy Oriental bazaar with a hotchpotch of humanity, ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques and temples. Visit a Hindu and Buddhist temple and the Jumi-ul Alfar Jumma Mosque. Continue with the tour through the Wolvendhal Dutch Church and Hultsdorf Law Courts, to the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens and on to the Independence Square and the Convention Centre (BMICH) with time for shopping at Fashion Outlet Odel, Handicrafts at Lakmedura and the Sri Lanka Ceramic showroom for porcelain and Dankotuwa table ware etc.

Day 06 – Departure Transfer Colombo / Airport

Breakfast at hotel and transfer to airport.
